There’s just no beating delicious homemade waffles, and what better way to celebrate
Waffle Day that creating your own?

Once you discover how easy it is to start from scratch, you’ll wonder why you ever bought readymade. This is our recipe for
creating the lightest, fluffiest Belgian waffles with golden, crispy edges.

Belgian Chocolate Waffle Recipe.

Ingredients:

225g plain flour
25g cocoa powder
1 tbsp baking powder
50g caster sugar
2 egg yolks
250ml milk
125ml vegtable oil
3 egg whites
200g dark chocolate, melted, to serve

Method:

1. Sift the flour, cocoa powder and baking powder into a mixing bowl. stir in the sugar and a pinch of salt.

2. In a separate bowl, mix the egg yolks in with the milk, oil and 125ml water.

3. Switch to the flourbowl and make a well in the centre. Pour in the egg yolk mix, whisking all the time untill you have a smooth batter.

4. Whisk the egg whites with an electric hand mixer until they form soft peaks.

5. Use a spoon to stir in a third of the whisked egg whites into the batter, then gently fold in the rest.

6. Get your VonShef Waffle Maker and spoon in big spoonful’s of the batter. Close the lid (no need to secure the clasp) and cook for 1-2 minutes until ready to dig in.

7. Top with your favourite toppings - we love blueberries, mint and almonds.
